Ukiah Diabetes Education and Support Group (Free)

  • Meets the second Monday of each month from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Conference Center Room A at UVMC. Call 707.463.7665.

Sweet Success Program (The California Diabetes and Pregnancy Program)

  • Pregnancy is special for women with diabetes. If you are planning a pregnancy or are pregnant, you will need extra support.

Stop Smoking Support

  • If you are trying to break the smoking habit, our affiliate St. Helena Hospital in the Napa Valley offers a residential stop smoking program.

Bariatric Support Group

  • The Bariatric support group will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month (November and December which will meet on the third Thursday) from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Outpatient Pavilion Lobby located at 245 Hospital Drive.

Childbirth Education Classes

  • Ukiah Valley Medical Center (UVMC) offers classes for pregnant women, so they know what to expect and how to best prepare for the birth of their child. For details and to register, please call the UVMC Family Birth Center at 707.463.7550.

  • 6-week Series
    Once a week: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
    This class covers all aspects of pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum, including the discomforts of pregnancy, signs and stages of labor, the labor and birth process, options for coping and pain management, newborn and infant care, and breastfeeding. Our education class provides you with information on natural coping methods such as breathing and relaxation exercises along with a complete tour of the Family Birth Center.
    Fee $125 - Cash or check to be paid at the first class session.

  • Fast-Track Series
    One Sunday: 10:00 - 4:00 p.m.
    This class is designed to meet the needs of those unable to attend weeknights. Curriculum includes information offered in the evening series in a shorter, fast-track fashion.
    Fee $65 - Cash or check to be paid at the first class session.

  • Where To Go
    All classes are taught on the Ukiah Valley Medical Center campus in the Glenn Miller Conference Center, adjacent to the Family Birth Center at 275 Hospital Drive, Ukiah. You may enter through the Family Birth Center entrance. The conference rooms are immediately on your right.

  • What To Bring
    For childbirth education classes only, please bring one or two pillows, as you will be sitting on the floor for some exercises. We understand that it is important for all expectant mothers to get appropriate nutrition and hydration, so please feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you. The classes are designed for the pregnant mother and her partner.

    The Prepared Childbirth Class gives you the knowledge, confidence and support you need to meet the challenges of labor and delivery. It is best to register for the class in your fourth or fifth month, and take the class in your seventh or eighth month. Please pre-register to secure your space in the class.


Tea for Two

  • A time for you and your loved ones to tour the Family Birth Place facilities, visit with expecting mothers and ask any questions. This special event is held in the Glenn Miller Conference Center across from UVMC’s Family Birth Place. 2009 Dates and Times:
